What’s Killing Your Tone?

If your guitar tech glances over your guitar and mutters, “Ah, must be this..” then starts fiddling with things, grab your guitar and run.

Think about it:
What happens when you go to your doctor for a sore knee? Does he start by looking at your knee? Perhaps grabbing a hammer and threatening to whack your knee?

If so, roll your pants leg back down and limp or skip on your one good leg, right out of there.

You know the correct procedure. You’re led into a little room where the nurse has you step on the scale, takes your temperature and blood pressure and asks a few questions (probably, “What insurance do you have, and are you sure you can afford this?”

Great Techs Work the Same Way

Good guitar techs don’t guess. They follow a proven diagnostic process:

• Neck relief
• Action height
• Nut slot depth
• Break angles
• Fretwear patterns

Only after that, can they properly troubleshoot the cause or causes of your tone issue.

Free Checkups—No Appointment Needed
