What’s your preferred fret height for fret #19 on the bass side?
???
Oh, you don’t HAVE a preference?
You just want the damn things level so you can play without fret buzz?
Well, leave it to the snake oil guys to solve another problem you don’t actually have – AND – create new problems at the same time!
Imagine trying to adjust each fret height individually — on BOTH sides of each fret.
Bass side.
Treble side.
For many guitars, that’s:
- 21 frets
- 42 separate adjustments
And these aren’t rough adjustments.
We’re talking about fret leveling — where experienced techs use precision-ground leveling beams trued against granite surface plates, along with proper neck prep and leveling technique, to get frets level down into the ten-thousandths.
That’s around 0.0001″.
One ten-thousandth of an inch.
The human eye loses focus somewhere around three thousandths.
We’re talking about tolerances roughly THIRTY TIMES smaller than what your eye can even focus on.
And now you’re going to make forty-two microscopic height adjustments…
…by hand…
…with an Allen key?
Seriously?

Seriously?
And judging from the photos, the adjustment mechanism itself looks WAY too coarse for this kind of precision anyway.
But who knows, there’s rock, punk, metal – maybe “buzz” will be the next music craze!
