When I left my Gibson Les Paul Special for the Master Pro Set I was told if they could not shim the nut properly they would have to put in a new one for $50. I gave permission for that possibility and was surprised at pick up to find out they deemed a new nut unnecessary. This business had my best interests in mind.

I bought a Fender Special Edition Custom FMT HH Telacaster a while back from a local shop that actually required quite a bit of work. After searching and reading reviews I decided on Hanks Guitar Shop, and let me tell you, I could not be happier with the results. First they assessed the instrument, found the pickups out of phase, the action was higher than it should be, and the overall playability was not what it should be. The staff was Professional and Polite, walked me through the repairs and gave me a detailed estimate for the cost of the needed repairs. I was not concerned with the time needed for completion, as it was over the holidays and I still have other guitars I can gig with. This “New Guitar” now plays like absolute Butter. The neck was adjusted, frets leveled and crowned, and the pickups were re-wired to the proper configuration. The Action is now perfect for me and I look forward to playing my guitar and discovering its full potential. Thanks to the Staff for the Exceptional Craftsmanship and Customer Service you provided. I would recommend your establishment to anyone needing a guitar serviced. I will be bringing my Stratocasters to visit you in the future for their own long needed servicing as well. Hanks is the place to go to folks, you won’t regret it!!!
I had such a great experience at Hank’s. The guys there are genuinely awesome. I brought my new guitar in for a setup, and Liam walked me through everything it needed in a way that actually made sense. Even though the shop was busy, they somehow turned it around in a day—and it ended up being cheaper than I expected. Everyone was super friendly, and Liam even took a few extra minutes to show me some cool new tips for restringing it next time around. Honestly, the whole experience was fantastic, and I highly recommend this shop to anyone who needs work done on their guitar.
Any guitarists or bassists in Pinellas county should consider Hanks for instrument repair. Great Customer Service, great work and advice, and at least competitively priced, if not cheaper. The big box stores will always be around.... we need to support stores like Hanks who go the extra mile and earn your respect and trust. Also...some interesting guitars and basses on the wall, setup and ready to go... Pay them a visit.
Couldn't be happier. My guitar plays great! Honesty is the best policy, and Hank's has a lot of it. I actually paid less than the original quote because they only did what was needed. I have several guitars so they will be seeing more of me for sure. Highly recommend!

Thank you Liam. As of this review, I've been to the shop twice. Once to drop my guitar off. And once to pick it up. My daughter was with me and she is Autistic. Her behavior can be a bit odd sometimes. And over the years I have become good at reading the way people react to her. Liam interacted with her on both visits with ease and with zero reaction to her being, well, different. It was exactly how I wish the world would welcome my daughter. So thank you again Liam. And oh, by the way, great job on my Les Paul. Simply amazing. I need to call and find out what you did to the frets. They feel amazing. Best professional guitar setup I've ever had. And I have 10 more stringed instruments hanging on the wall in my music room that could use some love.
Super shop - repaired my beat up 25 year old Taylor acoustic. Dan did great job repairing the fret board, replacing frets, cleaning up sound hole damage, and complete set-up. Very fairly priced. It now looks great, plays great, and sounds great. Highly recommend
Awesome little shop with great prices and friendly staff! I took a drive to Clearwater today to purchase a guitar from Hank's that I saw on Facebook Marketplace and I was not disappointed at all. Even happier with the price of the guitar and it comes with a setup and plays excellent. I will definitely be going back! They were starting a live open mic jam while I was there which is also really cool. I'm glad Mom and Pop music stores like this are still around. Great shop. Feeling welcomed is the most important facit in anywhere I go. This guitar shop definitely does that. Genuine humble, honesty is what I just witnessed here. A good amount of instruments and it looked like they do great repair work. I will be back. Thank you for restoring my faith in music retail.
I found the guitar shop online. I live over in Dunedin so It was super close to my house located in Clearwater Florida. My overall experience was absolutely amazing. Liam, who was helping me out, was very knowledgeable and gave me a lot of great information as someone new to the scene, their service was super quick, fast and friendly Recommended to anyone looking Buy, sell Repair, or learn.
Stopped by to have a new Martin D17 set up. They were very knowledgeable and had a quick turnaround time. I was given a very thorough explanation of all that was done. I appreciate the hard work and dedication to the craftsmanship. I don’t know much about the setup process as I only play as a hobby but I felt secure in leaving my guitar in their hands. I felt that my guitar was as important to them as it is to me. I will definitely use their service again.

Left a dusty, 20 year old Les Paul custom that had been sitting in a case for at least 10 years in the capable hands of Hank's for a much needed tune up. Picked up a finely tuned instrument. Exceptional service. I very much appreciated the fact the staff was transparent about what it might take to complete the work up front.
