Description
FYI: When pricing used guitars, we always check the internet to get pricing on similar models so that we can offer our guitars at a fair price to you (though, unlike the others, ours are all professionally checked and set up). In this case, all of the others we could find of this model were made in Japan so we wondered why the word, “Japan” was not on the label. With more research, we found out that evidently this guitar was made right after the Epiphone factory was opened in Japan so not all of the old labels shopped from the Michigan factory got the Japan stamp correction. (See response below to another inquiry on this model label.)

“6XXX models were ONLY made in Japan. Evidence points to the fact that left-over Kalamazoo labels were sent to Japan for the startup of the Matsumoku Epiphone line. The 6xxx models and model numbers were a direct copy of Aria models Matsumoku was already manufacturing, except for Epiphone headstocks and labels. This was done in late 1970/early 1971. After that, the Epiphone “FT” numbering system was instituted
I have seen some “Union Made” labels with the ‘U. M..” lined out with black marker and ‘Made in Japan’ rubber-stamped in the lower right corner.
Your example appears to have been made before the label editing was being done or just got missed.”
