Description

Personalized training on setups, fretwork, nut work, and more, plus whatever topic or topics you want extra training for. Start whenever you like. We supply tools to use during training.

This is one-week of a sequence for those who want a career in stringed instrument repair, with training for setups, nut work, fret work, guitar electronics, and more – covering electric and acoustic guitars.

You’ll be trained in an actual, working, retail guitar workshop alongside techs doing actual customer work.

Compare that to other tech schools that are taught by musicians rather than full-time, professional guitar techs and have a pre-set curriculum and pre-set schedules that often include wasted time such as building a kit guitar.

Training begins at 10am each weekday except Wednesdays.  There is a lunch break then training continues until 6pm.  You’ll be trained on real-life guitars that come into our shop needing work – not kit guitars like many other schools.

You’ll be trained by actual working guitar techs – not musicians who happen to work on their own guitars sometimes, as in many other schools.

You’ll get personalized instruction from Hank or one of our trained techs, and we’ll guide you every step of the way.

Other Guitar Tech (or “Luthier”) schools have a pre-set syllabus and are taught by musicians, not full-time guitar techs.  And most of those other schools charge $10,000 for eight weeks of training.

Our training is based on real work we do every day on guitars owned by real musicians and you’ll be trained by real, full-time guitar techs!

To get this rate, all days must be consecutive business weekdays.

We do not do paint and finish work nor other wood-working craftsman tasks which shops very rarely get requests for.

Whether you’ll be a competent, all-round guitar tech after just eight weeks, depends on your prior experience and training and how fast you learn.  To be honest, most people need from four to eight months of training before they’re really prepared to open their own business.

But, here’s the good news –

After eight weeks, your capabilities will be sufficient that training you will be less of a drain on our resources and you’ll at least begin to become an asset.  Therefore, it is likely that we would invite you to remain as an unpaid apprentice as you continue your training journey until you feel ready to go out on your own.

Currently we can only accept two apprentices at a time, so grab this opportunity while you can!
