Class Descriptions

These are free group beginner guitar lessons, designed to teach accompaniment guitar playing, also known as rhythm guitar and campfire-style guitar playing, where you learn to strum chord sequences as background to a singer or lead guitar player.

Classes are FREE for all and held every Saturday from 1pm to 1:45 at Hank’s Guitar Shop in Palm Harbor.   Lessons teach the basics of holding a guitar and strumming and three easy chords that comprise the I-IV-V chord sequence in C opening the door to thousands of wonderful songs you’ll be playing!

You will need to practice each day at home after each class.  You can get a head start by purchasing the book ($10) “Play Guitar Now!“, by Hank Castello, available on Amazon and in our store.

Everyone learns at their own pace.  Some will be ready to move on to a new chord by the second Class  Others may spend several weeks working on the first chord.  It’s all good!

If you only have an acoustic guitar,  you’re welcome to bring it but we’ll lend you an electric for the class.  It plays exactly like your acoustic (but a little easier on your fingers!) but quieter (not plugged in) so we don’t have chaos during class!  🙂

Please book classes online because we can only accept eight students per class.

You will be expected to practice for the rest of the week and be a Super Rock Star by the next class!  😉

Want to learn ukulele or bass guitar?  No problem.  We’ll separate you from the group and get you going.  By the second class, you’ll be in the band!
